TABB Spring Meeting 2007
Knoxville, Tennessee
The spring meeting of the Tennessee
Association of Blood Banks (TABB) was held beginning on Thursday, May
3, 2007 and concluding on Saturday, May 5th. The meeting was held at the
Crowne Plaza Hotel, Knoxville,Tennessee. There were 65 attendees
and 25 exhibitors. There just wasn't room for any more exhibitors! Scenes of Some Sessions
The Thursday afternoon
session began with a presentation by Lisa Edwards, MT(ASCP)SBB,
Blood Bank Supervisor, Baptist Hospital, Memphis, TN.The session
was entitled Blood Bank Management of Special Needs Patients and
Ms. Edwards discussed Management of Special Needs Pediatric Patients.

The first
presenter on Friday morning was Dr. William M. Bass who gave the Keynote
Address. His topic was Modern Forensic Cases. He is shown here with
Peter Jelsma, MD, moderator for the session.
Elizabeth Culler,
MD discussed Management of Stem Cell Transplant Patients from the
blood bank point of view.
The Friday morning session featured
Richard J. Benjamin, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer, Biomedical
Services, National Headquarters, American Red Cross who presented
the timely, important topic "Transfusion Related Acute Lung

The
Spring Meeting was concluded on Saturday after a talk by Erwin Cabana
of ICCBBA who described the current status and planning for the implementation
