Some Program Highlights
A very timely presentation
entitled Recruitment of Medical Technicians/Phlebotomists
was given Thursday afternoon by Leslie Garrett-Stevens, DBM, Account
Executive. She shared the podium with Matt Lowney, Recruiting Manager
of DaVita, Brentwood, Tennessee.
Sandra
Nance, MS, MT(ASCP)SBB discussed "Complex Case Resolution,
Where Do You Go Next." And one thing she told
us was that sometimes you have to go worldwide for rare red blood
cells. A wonderful presentation.
Joseph
D. Sweeney, M.D., FACP, FRCPath spoke under the title "Acrodose
Platelets: An Alternative To Increase Platelet Availability."
He gave the attendees much information as to use of single donor
and random donor platelets. See his PowerPoint presentation with
the data by clicking here.
John Neff, M.D. followed
Dr. Sweeney to the microphone to deliver his presentation on Blood
Conservation: The Approach at UTMCK. He emphasized the use
of Blood Order Forms (BOFs) which he felt was a very valuable tool
to assist in blood conservation. Click

Mary Ann Touralt discussed FDA
Inspections and how to find your way successfully through
them. Retired from the FDA, now doing regulatory and quality assurance
consulting, she truly was here to help us! See what she told us
